GREENSBORO, N.C.? The Elon School of Law is kicking off a free clinic Wednesday, aimed at helping low-income, older adults navigate legal issues.
The Elder Law Clinic is being funded through a donor who has not yet been announced. The clinic funds a practicioner-in-residence, and eight student attorneys per semester.
Clinic offerings include legal advice and help regarding Medicare, Medicaid, grandparents rights, consumer issues, and will preparation.
The new clinic is located in the Bank of America building off West Friendly Avenue in downtown Greensboro. It is directly across the street from Elon?s law school at the corner of W. Friendly and Greene St.
Guilford County residents, ages 60 and older, can take advantage of the free services. Minimum monthly income requirements are $1,700 for single adults, and $2,200 for married couples. Hannah Vaughan, a professor of law and practicioner-in-residence for the clinic, said this is a ballpark figure that the clinic is willing to work around.
Those interested in making an appointment should contact Vaughn at 336-279-9314, or by e-mail at elderlaw@elon.edu.
