NEW YORK ? President Barack Obama is warning that the United States will head down a `'perilous path" if its leaders do not work together to improve the economy quickly and responsibly.

Speaking at an exclusive Park Avenue fundraiser, Obama said his supporters want to know there is still a big vision of opportunity in the country. He said if he keeps making that case, he is confident the American people will follow him.

Obama is seeking re-election next year.

He spoke at the home of Ralph Schlosstein and Jane Hartley. About 60 people paid $35,800 each to attend.
