Following a huge outage spanning almost an entire week, RIM's mobile services appear to be crawling back online. BlackBerry owners have been in the dark since RIM's service interruption began, and many have taken to forums to vent their frustration with the company.
The company dragged its feet in admitting to the network outage to begin with, and hadn't really fessed up until now. Since popular features like BlackBerry Messenger (BBM) rely on RIM's own network rather than an external provider (like AT&T or T-Mobile), the outage has been massive in scope, affecting BlackBerry users around the globe.
In the video, RIM founder?Mike Lazaridis apologizes for the downtime, admitting that the company has let down its customers:?"Since launching BlackBerry in 1999, it's been my goal to provide reliable, real-time communications around the world. We did not deliver on that goal this week, not even close."
He states that while he can't give an?estimated time of full recovery around the world, normal?service should be popping back online for most subscribers ? so get ready for the BBM deluge.
