Two men told a Lebanon woman they could fix her roof, but then tried to scam her, police said.
On Thursday, two men visited an 83-year-old woman in the 400 block of East High Street, saying she had damage to her roof and they could fix it for ?twenty-four, sixty,? which the victim thought meant $24.60.
After spending 45 minutes on the roof, one of the men told the woman she owed $2,460. When the victim was reluctant to pay the suspect became agitated and threatened to place a lien on her home.
The suspects are white men with a medium skin tone, medium height and medium build. One of the suspects was wearing a fluorescent green safety vest. They arrived at the home in a black pickup truck, unknown make and model, with no visible markings on the truck.
The suspects may target the elderly.
Residents should turn away any home improvement they did not arrange, seek written estimates and verify the identity of home improvement contractors.
Anyone with information is asked to contact the Lebanon City Police at 717-272-6611 or Lebanon County Crime Stoppers at 717- 270-9800.
