So you just finished that big meal, and now your stomach is screaming at you. Does this happen more than you want it too? Maybe even daily? It may be time to take a good hard look at your eating behaviors, and see if you can change things in your daily routine to help you heal from this condition.
Do You Eat When You Are Truly Hungry?
Many people eat according to "the clock". It's Noon Time, so it MUST be time for lunch, right? Wrong. If you want to start fixing your stomach issues, you need to start eating when you are truly hungry/dizzy. Do not eat because it's "time" or because you are bored, sad, lonely, happy, in a social situation, etc. You need to put food back in its proper place, and only eat when your body really needs fuel. It is amazing that many of us have forgotten how to do this simple behavior, especially in America. Babies know exactly when they are hungry and when they are full. But as we grow up, and get forced into eating at certain times at school, or work, etc, we forget this internal mechanism. Take a few days, and examine how your eating patterns relate to the clock on the wall. Hopefully you can adjust your eating to your stomach's clock, because that clock will provide the digestive juices needed for the food you eat. Also, remember to STOP EATING when you are full. This isn't always easy, but practice makes perfect.
Do You Take Digestive Enzymes?
Let me preface this point by saying you should always talk to your doctor first when embarking on a new diet or supplement. Hopefully your doctor is open-minded though, and holistically inclined. Moving on. If you suffer from indigestion, you may want to look into Digestive Enzymes. You can get digestive enzymes naturally through simple foods from the grocery store, such as bean sprouts, pineapples and figs. Eat these foods raw, and CHEW THOROUGHLY. Another alternative is to buy a high quality juicer, and make all natural home-made juices out of carrots. This is a DELICIOUS drink that I drink daily, and it also helps with other stomach issues, such as constipation. Carrots have many natural enzymes. Since organic carrots do not cost that much more than regular carrots, go for the organic. And to save money, buy the very large carrots.
Or you can always take a digestive enzyme that you can buy at your local health food store, or even online. These supplemental enzymes help a person digest food from all food groups. You will need more enzymes if you are a meat-eater, and if you tend to eat a lot of protein in general.
